Walking into an acupuncture clinic for the first time, most people aren't sure what's about to happen. Here's what a first visit at Satori Tree Acupuncture actually looks like, from intake to the first needle.
It starts with your hands, not a form
Plan for 60 to 90 minutes. We'll go through your health history first, but the real diagnosis happens hands-on: checking the channels and trouble areas for tension and tenderness to find the pattern connecting your symptoms. This is palpation-based diagnosis, and it's the foundation every treatment plan is built on, rather than a fixed protocol applied to everyone with the same complaint.
Treatment follows in the same visit
Once the underlying pattern is clear, treatment begins right away using neoclassical acupuncture. Rather than treating each symptom separately, the goal is to address the pattern connecting them, which often means fewer needles with a deeper, more far-reaching effect.
Does it hurt?
Acupuncture needles are hair-thin, nothing like the hollow needles used for injections. Most people feel little at insertion, then a dull heaviness or warmth as it settles in. Many patients find sessions deeply relaxing, and it's common to drift off on the table.
What to wear
Loose, comfortable clothing works best. Many points are on the lower arms and legs, so sleeves and pant legs that roll up easily are ideal. For back work you'll be draped comfortably, so wear whatever lets you relax.
Change is checked as you go
Range of motion and tension patterns are retested during the visit, not just assumed. That real-time feedback is part of what makes the treatment precise, and it's often the moment patients first feel the shift.
