Each visit begins hands-on. The channels and trouble areas are assessed for tension and tenderness, then specific points are tested to narrow in on the underlying pattern that connects them.
Rather than treating each symptom in isolation, treatment targets the underlying pattern. This results in a deeper effect with fewer needles, with relief that ripples outward through interconnected symptoms.
Change is checked in real time. Range of motion and tension patterns are retested as treatment continues. Progress typically deepens as the treatment fully settles in.
A few simple adjustments to the channel system can bring huge improvement to most of the health issues people bring in.

Comprehensive evaluation with intake and assessment, then your first acupuncture treatment tailored to your presentation.

Follow-up evaluation and treatment, adjusted based on your progress and current presentation.

For muscular tension, circulation, and fascial release, as a standalone session, or woven into your acupuncture visit.

Custom formulas and blends applied to your specific pattern and presentation, drawing on classical Chinese herbal medicine.
Practicing the healing arts since 2002.
Joel holds a Master of Acupuncture and is licensed in Colorado.
His practice draws on over two decades of personal study in bodywork, meditation, and energy systems, grounded in classical Chinese medicine. He works with the full spectrum — from first-time patients seeking pain relief to those fine-tuning sleep, mood, and overall wellbeing.
Joel's healing journey started with his own experience working through chronic pain, digestive, and stress issues. Finding relief with regular massage and acupuncture sessions, he committed to exploring the mind-body and healing arts, starting a meditation practice and exploring multiple energy-based practices before entering massage therapy school (2003) and earning his Master of Acupuncture from the Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine (2010).
Throughout this time he has maintained a steady meditation practice, exploring the layers of the mind and the body's energetic system through Buddhist and Taoist frameworks, approached as exploratory science and philosophy rather than a belief system. He brings this experience and constant curiosity to the center of every session.
Joel sees the full spectrum, from first-time patients simply looking for pain relief, to people fine-tuning sleep, mood, and overall wellbeing further along their journey. He works extensively with veterans, and regularly treats chronic pain, post-surgical recovery, headaches, and digestive issues.

Rather than treating each symptom in isolation, treatment targets this pattern, resulting in a deeper effect with fewer needles and relief that ripples outward through interconnected symptoms.
Joel has found that a few simple adjustments to the channel system can bring huge improvement to about 90% of the health issues people bring in. For the cases that need it, herbs and adjunct therapies can deepen the work. Beyond a healthy body, there's a lot more to explore about the nature of mind and body, and where happiness and fulfillment actually come from. He wants to help each patient along that fuller journey.
Joel works extensively with veterans and welcomes referrals through the VA Community Care program. With a referral, acupuncture visits are covered at no cost to you.

Acupuncture needles are hair-thin, nothing like the hollow needles used for injections. Most people feel little at insertion, then a dull heaviness or warmth around the point as it settles in. It's also common to notice sensation in places well away from the needle itself, as the whole body adjusts. Most patients find sessions deeply relaxing, and it's common to drift off on the table.
Loose, comfortable clothing works best. Many points are on the lower arms and legs, so sleeves and pant legs that roll up easily are ideal. For back work you'll be draped comfortably, so wear whatever lets you relax.
Plan for 60 to 90 minutes. We'll go through your health history, then begin the hands-on assessment: checking the channels and trouble areas for tension and tenderness to find the pattern behind your symptoms. Treatment follows in the same visit, and change is checked in real time as we go.
It depends on what you're coming in for. Recent injuries and acute pain often shift within a few visits. Long-standing patterns typically take longer to unwind. You should feel meaningful change within the first several sessions, and we'll reassess together as treatment progresses.
Coverage varies by plan. Veterans referred through VA Community Care are covered in full. For other insurance, we provide superbills for reimbursement.
New patients are welcome at both clinics. Call, email, or book online.
